L'Opération Nkoul, une idée de Giuseppe
Vassallo, s'est déroulée du 20 au 22 Avril 2000, ce dernier jour étant, au
niveau internet mondial, la "Journée de la Terre".
L'Opération Nkoul
est une caravane de protestation et de sensibilisation des populations contre la
destruction de la forêt de Mingouli et des chutes Kongou.
- Les buts de l'Opération Nkoul
:
1. Redonner au TamTam ( N'koul ) sa valeur traditionnelle et le faire revivre en
tant qu'instrument de communication. On peut le définir
comme l'ancêtre africain du téléphone, bien avant les relais de poste européens.
2. Constituer, de village en village, une chaîne de protestation contre l'exploitation abusive des forêts
du Gabon, principalement celle d'Ipassa-Mingouli, pour
sensibiliser les autorités locales.

The Nkoul Operation, an idea of Giuseppe Vassallo,
were taking place 20th to 22nd of April 2000, this last day was, refering to world-wide
internet, "EarthDay".
The Nkoul Operation is a
caravan to protest against the destruction of the Mingouli
forests and of the Kongou falls and sensitize the
populations.
- Objectives of Nkoul Operation
1. To give back
to talking drum ( N'koul ) its traditionnal value and make it alive as communication instrument. We can define it as the african ancestor
of the telephone, much before the european post horses.
2. To constitute, from village to village,
an indignation string against excessive logging of gabonese forests, mainly this one of
Ipassa-Mingouli, to sensitize localal authorities.

Elle doit être remise, le 28 Avril 2000, à Monsieur Kofi Annan,
Secrétaire Général des Nations Unies, lors de sa visite au Gabon.
Nous, jeunes gabonais issus de différentes écoles, lycées, collèges et
universités de la capitale;
- Considérant que la forêt équatoriale constitue le poumon de la planète;
- Considérant la législation en vigueur au Gabon en matière de protection de notre
environnement;
- Considérant le caractère primaire de la forêt de l'Ivindo et de la zone Ipassa
Mingouli;
- Considérant la richesse en biodiversité de la région précitée;
- Considérant la beauté des chutes de Kongou, chef-d'oeuvre divin propice au
développement de l'écotourisme;
- Considérant que l'exploitation forestière dans la région accélère la paupérisation
de la population locale et le déséquilibre de la faune et de la flore;
- Conscients de l'avenir de cette région et soucieux de la préservation des espèces
animales et végétales de notre patrimoine écologique pour les générations futures;
Demandons:
1) L'arrêt de l'exploitation forestière dans la région de Mingouli;
2) Le retrait des permis d'exploitation forestière dans cette zone;
3) La valorisation du patrimoine écologique en y developpant des stratégie de recherche
et de développement de l'Ecotourisme. |
Petition
It must be delivered, on Avril,28th 2000, to Mister Kofi Annan, General
Secretary of United Nations, when he visits Gabon.
We, young Gabonese, coming from different schools, Lycées, Collèges and
Universities of the capital;
- Considering that equatorial forest is the lungs of the planet;
- Considering the actual legislation concerning our environment protection;
- Considering the primary character of the Ivindo forest and of the Ivindo ad of the
Ipassa Mingouli area;
- Considering the richness in biodiversity of the aforesaid area;
- Considering the beauty of the Kongou falls, God's masterpiece, propicious to the
development of ecotourism;
- Considering that loggers'exploitation in this region speeds up the impoverishment of the
local populations and the unbalance of the flora and fauna;
- Aware of the future of this region, and caring for the conservation of the animal and
vegetal species of our ecological patrimony for future generations;
We ask for:
1) the stop of logging in the Mingouli region;
2) the withdrawal of exploitation permits in this area;
3) the valorisation of the ecological patrimony by the development of Ecotourism and
scientific research strategies. |
